Students with academic three-year degrees from accredited institutions and grade point averages of 2.75 or above are eligible for admission in unclassified, post-baccalaureate status to the Fourth Year Bridge Program. Completion of this Bridge Program will result in the granting of Equivalent Academic Preparation for possible future admission to the Master of Science program in Computer Science at California State University, East Bay.
Students must maintain a 3.0 overall grade point average and earn at least a C- or above in all courses attempted. (Only General Education and University Writing Skills courses may be taken CR/NC.) Courses in which the earned grade is below a C- will be counted in the grade point average but will not be accepted as meeting a course requirement.
After completion of this Bridge Program, students who have earned at least a 3.0 overall grade point average and competitive GRE scores will be eligible to apply for the M.S. Computer Science program. Note that admission into the M.S. program is competitive, and is never guaranteed. Completion of the Bridge program with a GPA above the minimum allows you to apply but cannot assure acceptance.
ADMISSION TO BRIDGE PROGRAM:
Applicants interested in the Fourth Year Bridge Program should submit their application form, application fee, and an official copy of their transcript and diploma to Enrollment Services by the application deadline for the quarter in which they are applying. Write in "Unclassified Postbaccalaureate - Fourth Year Bridge Program" as the Major/Program Objective on the application form.
ADMISSION TO M.S. PROGRAM:
Students in the Bridge Program who are planning to enroll in the M.S. program should submit a Change of Graduate Objective Application to the Admissions Office at the beginning of their last quarter in the Bridge Program. Official GRE scores should also be submitted at that time. Students will be considered for admission to the M.S. program when Enrollment Services has received the Change of Graduate Objective Application and the official GRE scores.
FOUNDATION COURSEWORK:
Students will take the following Math/Stat/Computer Science courses unless they have already taken equivalent coursework elsewhere with grades of B or better. Such equivalent coursework will be allowed only if it had been part of an academic degree program from an accredited university.

If you fail the WST with a 6 or lower, you must receive credit for one first-tier upper division writing course (ENGL 3000 or 3001) and pass one second-tier upper division writing course (ENGL 3003, MKTG 3495, SCI 3010) with a grade of C- or better. Students who earn a 6 or lower on the WST may not repeat the test.
If you fail the WST on your first attempt with a score of 7, you must pass one second-tier upper-division writing course with a grade of C- or better or take the test one additional time. Please note that if you fail on your second attempt, the second score is what determines the coursework you will need to satisfy the UWSR.
